Are you fascinated by lighting, and would you like to learn about and experiment with its various facets so that you can design it for a theatrical production? If so, this workshop is for you!


The training includes a theoretical component, during which the basic concepts of lighting design, the different projectors and their functions, the lighting plan and technical specifications will be covered; and a practical component, during which participants will experiment with the different lighting components with lamps (focus, colours, images, etc.), will be introduced to the lighting console and will have the chance to do a small lighting design.


Workshop dates and venue:


15 May (6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.) online (via the Zoom platform)

May 18 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a break between noon and 1 p.m.) at Espace René Provost (39, rue Leduc - Gatineau)

Cost: $50 for members and $80 for non-members*.

Biography of Mélissa Campeau:


Accepted to the Cégep de St-Hyacinthe Theatre School she began her adventure in 2014, she studied there for 4 years and graduated in 2018. Since graduating, Mélissa has worked as an assistant stage manager and assistant director in various productions. She designed the lighting for several productions: Bip Love, shows as part of the Montreal Fringe, 2017-2018-2019, and the creations of Désinvolte since 2015. She worked at Salle Pauline Julien as a lighting technician and lx manager from 2020 to 2023.


As theatre is her passion, she accepted the position of production manager, assistant director and stage manager for the production Old Orchard, presented at La Grande Licorne in March 2023. She also works at l'Arrière-Scène as production manager and technical director. It was with Théâtre du Portage that she returned to creative technical direction. There she adapted the set for Plastique for performances as part of the RTA in April 2024. It was with Théâtre Point Virgule that Mélissa had the chance to do a lighting design.


Before drama school, Mélissa worked as a special needs educator. For the past few years, she has been doing both, taking part in projects in primary and secondary schools. She accompanies students and teachers in their theatrical productions.
