Meeting point: Théâtre de l'Ile, 1 Wellington Street
Information: 3-1-1 or patrimoine@gatineau.ca
Discover the history of the Ottawa River, from prehistoric times to the present day, including the era of the New France explorers, such as Samuel de Champlain, a prominent figure still shrouded in mystery. Accompanied by a historian and an archaeologist, you’ll follow an ancient portage trail dating back a thousand years that leads to Brébeuf Park in the Val-Tétreau area. The hike (one-way only) is 2.3 km long: sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
