Vernissage: Saturday April 13, 1 to 4 pm

Galerie Old Chelsea is pleased to feature the captivating works by Julie Poulin, an artist whose love of nature is truly remarkable. The exhibition showcases Poulin's talent for plein air painting, capturing the essence of the natural world as her technique blurs the line between pastel and oil painting, resulting in pieces that are soft, mysterious, and deeply captivating.

Inspired by the beauty of nature, Julie Poulin braves the elements to paint on location, immersing herself in the landscapes she seeks to portray. Her dedication extends beyond warm temperatures, as she ventures out during Ottawa’s harshest winters. Despite the challenges presented by freezing temperatures, Poulin remains undeterred, donning battery-heated clothing to stay warm while creating her art. While painting in the frigid cold of winter, Poulin faces various obstacles, from a snow-covered palette to paint freezing on the canvas. Yet, her passion for her craft drives her forward, pushing the boundaries of her endurance. When not painting on location, Poulin retreats to her Ottawa studio, where she transforms her plein air studies into stunning works of art.

Trained in the Atelier method, Julie Poulin employs pastels or oil to capture scenes impressionistically, infusing her work with vivid colours and a sense of warmth.  Her dedication to her craft has been recognized with prestigious honours, including Signature Status by the Pastel Artists of Canada and the Active designation by the Federation of Canadian Artists. Julie has exhibited across Canada and can be found in many collections.
