Spectacle place Laval: Malaimé Soleil + première partie : Jeanne Côté
*Doors open at 7:30 p.m.*
Malaimé Soleil is a warm breeze that sweeps through the crowd and touches the heart. Their songs hit the mark, carried by choruses that stick in your head effortlessly and make you want to sing at the top of your lungs in packed venues. Malaimé is an invitation to come together, to vibrate in unison through joy and sorrow alike. Somewhere between raw energy and unapologetic tenderness, they carve their path through unexpected soundscapes—an echo of bygone eras here, a touch of elsewhere there, and always that desire to surprise along the way. One of their strengths lies in this ability to bring scenes from life to life for others through the emotion of the one living them, like a movie in a theater. Malaimé Soleil doesn’t seek to shine alone—their music lives on through those who listen to it. It becomes the soundtrack to our memorable evenings, our uneventful journeys, our simple joys, and our quiet sorrows. They sing about life, without pretense or detours, and that is precisely what makes them special.
Jeanne Côté is approaching her thirties with the wind at her back. As the winner of the 2023 Francouvertes and a finalist for the 2024 Félix-Leclerc Award, her unique songwriting, piano playing, and stripped-down folk style have won over hearts in recent years. Following Suite pour personne (2023), she seized the opportunity of a new album, Nos routes pleines de branches, to branch out a bit from her Gaspé roots: the album, more dynamic and groovy, draws inspiration from the breaking points and intersections that shape human journeys. Accompanied by Arthur Bourdon-Durocher, Jeanne Côté presents a show that feels like an immersive journey, an adventure with many detours from which you emerge feeling lighthearted.
