La p’tite St-Jean is celebrating its 12th anniversary this year and is proud to present, for the very first time, its festive, lively, and colorful lineup. The event will once again take place on June 24 starting at 7 p.m. in the pedestrian zone on Laval Street in Old Hull, downtown Gatineau! For the occasion, we asked two bands to do something really special to make the evening unique and memorable!

Les Planètes Smashers (IN FRENCH!) The Planet Smashers had also let us translate their name as Les Destructeurs de Planètes, but we were starting to find that a bit confusing. Les Planètes Smashers have managed to survive for a quarter of a century by touring the world, partying nonstop, and making some extremely questionable life decisions. A staple of the Canadian music scene, the Smashers bring their new wave-influenced ska punk to every corner of the globe. For the first time in a very, very long time, the band will perform sixty minutes of their musical repertoire in French and force us to dance all night long in the streets of Old Hull.

Just before that, we invite you to come out in large numbers for a complete performance of the album “Dehors Novembre” by Vander and his guests. Vander was the last bassist for Les Colocs and Dédé Fortin’s main collaborator on the legendary album “Dehors Novembre,” released over 25 years ago. For this one-of-a-kind show, Vander, his musicians, and his guests (Hubert Proulx, Alice Bro, and Bourbon) will revisit this memorable album. Belzebuth, Le Répondeur, Tassez-vous de là, Pissy-Ô-Moins, La Maladresse—each track on this album (which has sold over 200,000 copies to date) has become a “timeless classic” yet remains surprisingly relevant today…

With Margaret Tracteur’s bluegrass/swing as the opening act. Gabrielle Noël Bégin’s project blends American tradition with creative freedom, using humor, keen observation, and surprising vocal techniques to invite the audience on a colorful journey for yodellers (oh yes!) and the curious alike.

La p’tite St-Jean, in collaboration with the City of Gatineau, the Société Nationale des Québécois et Québécoises de l’Outaouais, Tourisme Outaouais, and Canadian Heritage, is a free event born from an initiative by merchants in the Laval, Aubry, and Kent neighborhoods, aimed at bringing the area to life and showcasing its rich heritage in a festive atmosphere. So come join us for a festive celebration in Old Hull on June 24!
