We are excited to partner with Canadian Heritage once again to bring you Canada Day in Vieux-Hull! The event will take place on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, from noon to 11 PM in the pedestrian section of Laval Street in Vieux-Hull. All activities are free!

.

From noon to 4 PM, kids will enjoy a variety of giant games and inflatable structures, face painting, and dancing to the music of our surprise DJ. At 2 PM, hoop dancer Makhena—who has Anishinaabe, Algonquin, and Franco-Canadian roots—will deliver a breathtaking performance.

.

Starting at 7 PM, the main stage will host a unique and diverse lineup, with Julien Morrissette as the evening’s host.

.

First up is Naïma Frank, a singer-songwriter from Montreal with Haitian roots, blending alternative R&B, pop sounds, and an unclassifiable something. She’s considered an up-and-coming artist in Quebec’s new wave R&B scene. In 2023, she performed at numerous events including RIDEAU, Santa Teresa, Vue sur la Relève, Francos de Montréal, and Haïti en folie. She won 12 awards at the Vue sur la Relève Festival and received the CISM Grant from the RADAR series, presented by M for Montréal and Mundial Montréal.

.

Right after, it’s P’tit Belliveau’s turn to hit the stage! The full-time project of Acadian pop experimentalist and self-described “prime alien” Jonah Guimond, P’tit Belliveau has already released three acclaimed albums featuring generational anthems like “Income Tax” and “J’aimerais d’avoir un John Deere.” While he’s a one-man band in the studio, he performs live with his band, bringing an electrifying, rock-infused twist to his most party-ready songs. It’s all about fun and going bigger, better, stronger — dancing, moving, beer flowing — with a dash of wild covers and over-the-top theatrics: “It’s not about being subtle – it’s gotta be big, and if that means skulls and motorbikes, so be it.” Come see for yourself — odds are, you’ll leave as part of the P’tit Bellivers crowd.

.

To close out the night in style, The Strumbellas will join the celebration! Since forming in 2008 and releasing their debut album My Father and the Hunter in 2012, this two-time JUNO Award-winning alternative band has delivered album after album of energetic alt-country music—from We Still Move on Dance Floors (2013), to Hope (2016), to Rattlesnake (2019). Their newest studio album, Part Time Believer, was released in February, marking a revival and rebirth for the band. Shaped by producers Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Kaiser Chiefs), Keith Varon (Machine Gun Kelly), Stevie Aiello (30 Seconds To Mars), and Dave Schiffman (RHCP, The Killers), Part Time Believer continues the Strumbellas’ legacy of crafting epic, colorful songs with lyrics full of longing and introspection.

.

The entire event is free and open to everyone! A special thank you to Canadian Heritage, the City of Gatineau, and Vision Centre-ville for their generous support.

So mark your calendars for July 1st in Vieux-Hull — a fun, festive, family-friendly day awaits!
