Diane Tell: My 50 i’aime Anniversary Tour
Born in Quebec City on December 24, Diane Tell entered the Val-d’Or Conservatory at the age of 6, then continued her training in Montreal and at Cégep Saint-Laurent, where she developed a passion for jazz. At 12, she wrote her first songs, and at 18, she released her first eponymous album. In 1982, she became a leading figure in French-language music, winning six Félix Awards before the age of 25. Her hit song Si j’étais un homme, inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017, made history. In France, she won a Midem Award and a Victoire de la musique for Faire à nouveau connaissance.
Based in Europe since 1984, she has toured extensively and collaborated on numerous projects, releasing a dozen albums, including a jazz tribute to Boris Vian and the musical Marilyn Montreuil with Jérôme Savary. In 1990, she took part in La légende de Jimmy by Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon.
An independent producer and publisher since Chimères (1983), she launched her own label in 2010 and entrusted her catalog to IDOL. Passionate about images, she directs her own videos and maintains a YouTube channel (over 27 million views). Committed to the music industry, she sits on the board of SOCAN (2018-2023) and has become an ambassador for HI, Humanity & Inclusion. In 2022, she received the medal of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul-Malak. In 2024, she was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Eight years after Rideaux Ouverts, she returned in 2019 with Haïku, a bold album produced by Fred Fortin, once again asserting her independence and visionary talent.
"For this series of concerts, I won't be alone. An extraordinary five-star Quebec band, led by the unique and talented Julien Fillion, will be hitting the road with me. How lucky I am.
The repertoire—drawn from fifteen albums—chosen for our enjoyment and yours, will be enhanced by the talent of these young musicians. So... are we in? Just think: 50 years of music, songs, and live performances, non-stop. But above all, it is your loyalty that deserves to be celebrated.
Come on. It's my treat. The 50th anniversary of our meeting. Do you remember?" - Diane Tell
