Two leading Quebec artists, two profoundly distinct artistic worlds, and a captivating conversation about what shapes us, what we inherit, and what we choose to pass on.

This event will bring together author, poet, slam poet, and performer David Goudreault—one of the most influential voices in contemporary Quebec literature—and award-winning comic book artist Christian Quesnel. Through literature and visual storytelling, both have created powerful works that explore identity, memory, society, and the forces that connect our personal stories to the world around us.

Winner of the Archambault Grand Literary Prize and the Clémence-Desrochers Prize, David Goudreault is one of the most original voices in contemporary Quebec literature. Blending humor, poetry, and a deep attention to human realities with remarkable creative freedom, he has built a career that spans literary forms and artistic disciplines. His most recent novel, *Traumathys*, published in August 2026, is his sixth—and, in the author’s own words, both his masterpiece and his “most political and most intimate work to date.”

Christian Quesnel, the recipient of numerous honors, including the Grand Prix de la Ville de Québec (Bédéis Causa), has distinguished himself through a striking visual approach to history, memory, and major social issues.Her most recent work, Transmission : Les héritages de la Baie-James, created in collaboration with journalist Annie Desrochers, weaves together an intimate family history with the political, territorial, and human transformations linked to the development of the James Bay region.

Moderated by Julie Huard, the discussion will explore, among other things:
