Cabaret Kerouac Amérique
For the artists in this cabaret, Kerouac’s American identity becomes the lens through which to cast a contemporary gaze on both our shared history and our individual stories.
Together with the audience, they seek to understand how a body of work like Jack’s—published in English but written in both languages (Kerouac’s French texts remained unpublished until very recently)—fits into the broader history of migration and transformation within the French-speaking community on American soil, while also bearing witness to these phenomena.
Understanding this not only allows us to better grasp Kerouac’s texts, but above all, it allows us to better understand ourselves. An adventure filled with poetry and music, with “Beat” influences!
