Guided tour: Discover Hull's “allumettières”!
This guided tour along rue Eddy will explore the history of the matchmakers and, more broadly, the daily lives of these workers in the city's former working-class neighborhoods. The tour will explore their role in the development of the industrial city, as well as their place in our memory and heritage, in memory of the famous workers' struggles they led. Learn more about their living and working conditions in industrial Hull in the 19th and 20th centuries. Discover the women behind the name “matchmakers”.
