Twin Flames
Twin Flames build bridges between cultures, continents and styles, and have long been celebrated for their soundscapes spanning Canada and the Arctic. Their songs tell stories of courage and survival. Using unusual sounds, Aboriginal spiritual flutes, traditional drums and Western instruments to enhance their harmonies, they offer a moving and unique experience. Critics have tried to label Twin Flames' music and that's no easy task, but really, from the outset, the duo decided to let their music speak for itself and went on to be 4-time winners of the Canadian Folk Music Award, 3-time winners of the Native American Music Award and 3-time winners of the Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards. Chelsey June, a Métis (Algonquin Cree heritage) from Gatineau, and Jaaji, an Inuk and Mohawk from Nunavik and Kahnawake, are part of an Aboriginal renaissance. Their cultural origins span the geography of Canada, and their songs, performed in a mix of English, French and Inuktitut, have earned them a unique place among the creators of contemporary music from coast to coast. Their easy humour on stage, combined with impeccable storytelling, allows Twin Flames audiences to feel a real human connection. "The performance is made possible by the Quebec government's Plan de relance économique du milieu culturel.
