Innu band Maten hails from Mani-Utenam on Quebec's North Shore, anchored between the shores of the St. Lawrence and the boreal forest. Maten, made up of Mathieu Mckenzie, Samuel Pinette and Kim Fontaine, has played hundreds of shows in Quebec since the late 1990s.
The trio is truly committed to their community, their language and their Innu roots. And that's what their album Utenat (La grande ville) is all about, with lyrics that reflect their values, their culture and their pride in their identity.
