The myth of Orpheus, the supreme musician capable of moving the underworld, illustrates the power of music in numerous works from the Baroque period. This concert presents a repertoire based on this theme, which evokes both tragedy and wonder. You will hear works by Francisque, Couperin, Boësset, Moulinié, Lambert, and Gauthier. Antoine Francisque [François] was a French lutenist and composer born around 1570 in Saint-Quentin and died in 1605 in Paris.

The objects of the Conservatoire are to administer and operate, in various regions of Québec, institutions providing instruction in music and institutions providing instruction in dramatic arts for the professional training and continuing education of performing artists and creative artists. In the pursuit of its objects, the Conservatoire takes into account the specific characteristics of each of those institutions.
