When the priest died, two graves were dug: one on each side of the cemetery fence. During the three days and three nights of the wake, the entire village debated which side to lay him to rest on: in consecrated ground or on the other side. You never really know who you’re dealing with… To each their own story, their own truth. Just when we thought we knew everything about the life of this man with his rosary, we were in for a big surprise at the story the widow told during the wake. Hanging on her every word, we were about to discover the unsuspected truths and secrets of the priest—and above all, witness the unfolding of the legendary, quirky judgment of the people’s court of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton
