Celebrate the rich legacy of filmmaking in Chelsea with a double bill of two feature length, groundbreaking films.

Sunday, March 30, 2025:

“Waterwalker” NFB (1984) Written and directed by Bill Mason (Meech Lake), naturalist, author, artist, filmmaker, conservationist and canoeing legend. “Waterwalker” gently offers the important and timely message of exploring and protecting our beautiful but endangered natural environment, portended 40 years ago by Bill Mason.

Original score by Bruce Cockburn and Hugh Marsh.  Called an “ode to the majesty of nature” Albert Ohayon NFB

“The Man Who Skied Down Everest” (1975) Produced by Budge Crawley, scripted and edited by Judith Crawley, Crawley Films (Scott Road, Chelsea). “The Man Who Skied Down Everest” was the first Canadian-produced feature-length film to win an Oscar, for best documentary in 1976 and is arguably the first “extreme sport” documentary ever made. Crawley Studios adapted the extraordinary original footage of Japanese daredevil skier Yuichiro Miura on his epic 1970 trek through the Himalayas to ski down Mount Everest.
