The Montreal-based band Atsuko Chiba delivers “edgy and powerful rock” (BrooklynVegan), blurring the lines between progressive, post-rock, and krautrock. Coherently subverting genres, they weave a hypnotic and subversive soundscape through offbeat yet precise songwriting. Since their formation, the quintet has released three full-length albums (Jinn, Trace, and Water, It Feels Like It’s Growing), two EPs (Figure and Ground and The Memory Empire), as well as occasional singles. On stage, the five musicians combine their experimental rock sound with projections and lighting that they control in real time, creating a multisensory and immersive environment. Taking this telepathic audiovisual storm on the road, the band has shared the stage with acts such as ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Big Business, and Duchess Says, among others, and has appeared at festivals including Portals Festival, SXSW, and M for Montréal. After releasing the hard-hitting tracks “Pope’s Cocaine” and “Climax Therapy” in the summer of 2025, the quintet will unveil *Atsuko Chiba* on April 24, 2026, via Mothland—a self-titled full-length album that introduces elements of trip-hop, chamber pop, and ambient music to their already sprawling psychedelic blend.
