Aswell presents his first EP, SOLO, entirely produced, mixed and mastered by himself. Reminiscent of artists like Juice Wrld, The Kid Laroi and Lomepal, this Quebec rap EP is somewhere between pop rap and emo rap. The artist uses melodies and sung flows, making the project accessible to a wide audience. The fairly introspective narrative focuses on subjects such as the failure of love, regret and the emptiness of existence. This first official project only confirms that Aswell is an authentic artist, hard-working and confident, but with that element of vulnerability that we find in his lyrics. He opens the doors to his thoughts, which he heals with music, and confides in us in a relaxed Franglais that feels good and speaks to us all. A phenomenon on the streamosphere, Aswell has already racked up more than 14 million listens to his songs. In his early twenties, the artist even managed to break the charts with his track Leaving, which alone has racked up nearly 6 million listens. No wonder SOCAN's Paroles & Musique magazine named him one of five Quebec rappers to watch in 2021. After a sold-out tour and a fiery performance in front of several thousand spectators at the Francos de Montréal in the summer of 2022, Aswell is more than ready to rise to the top of the Quebec rap scene.
