Académie de danse de l'Outaouais
The mandate of the Académie de danse de l'Outaouais is to promote the development of dance in the Outaouais region and to disseminate quality dance education.
Its niche is defined as a training school in the performing arts, to be compared with the field of variety.
The Académie offers training, initiation and personal development programs, mainly in classical dance, modern dance, creative dance, trapeze dance, Indian dance and fitness.
The role of a professional dance training school is to pass on the tradition, arouse and develop the interest of young people, participate in the training of the next generation of dancers, develop the artistic potential of the community and contribute to the education of the individual.
The Académie de danse de l'Outaouais intends to interpret its primary mandate as a dance training school by facilitating access to solid, comprehensive training for young people aspiring to a career in the arts, by enriching its program to provide students with training in line with current trends in the artistic milieu, by continuing to offer courses and animation programs aimed at the cultural awakening and development of a greater number of enthusiasts, and by designing special programs (e.g. for young athletes).
Two studios, 30' x 40' and 40' x 50' respectively, allow for a larger number of students to be accommodated, a varied program of classes to be presented and intensive training programs to be developed. The floors, very important for the dance discipline, are made of wood, designed to ensure resilience for balanced muscle development and the prevention of physical injuries to the dancer. The floor covering is a dance mat that provides a non-slip surface for soft shoe work, pointe work, etc.
