The Centre d'exposition Art-image and the Odyssée space at the Maison de la culture de Gatineau are two exhibition spaces whose mandate is to disseminate current and contemporary art in order to increase public awareness and appreciation of these practices. Both spaces present exhibitions by professional artists. These artists come from the region, the province and the country. Once a year, the Émergence programme gives young artists from the Federal Capital Region the opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional environment.

Art-image, through its educational programme and creative workshops, has been raising awareness of contemporary art among young people for 20 years. These workshops encourage the interpretation, understanding and appreciation of contemporary works.

Since 2000, the Art-image exhibition centre has been recognised as a museum institution by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec. In 2019, Art-image received the seal of quality from the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec. It is now accredited, guaranteeing the public access to a high-quality public institution.
