Guide: Michel Prévost, D.U., President of the Société d'histoire de l'Outaouais

Come and discover the Fairview House, home of the Musée régional de l'Outaouais, and the magnificent Scott-Fairview estate. Come and see the architectural attributes of the superb Italianate-style stone house built in 1862-1863. This exceptional residence is one of the few in the Outaouais region to have preserved its wooded setting. The tour will focus on the estate's first owner, Sir Richard William Scott, an important figure who played a significant role in Queen Victoria's selection of Ottawa as the capital of the United Province of Canada in 1857. You'll also discover the history of the Veterinary Research Institute building and other relics that recall the site's unique past. Please note that in the event of rain, the tour will be limited to the house.
