It's the start of the vacations for Harlequin and Columbine, and they're both delighted by the time off that awaits them. But Harlequin can't relax completely. He's absorbed in preparing his big proposal to Colombine, who is delighted to see his lifelong accomplice take a thousand detours to confess his love for her! Suitcases, parasols and misunderstandings thwart Harlequin's plans on this beautiful day, when the only words left unspoken are "Will you marry me?

This commedia dell'arte show is a perfect example of the work involved in the masked acting technique taught in every drama program in the province. Featuring the well-known characters of Harlequin and Columbine, this play showcases the physical abilities of its performers, their bodily precision and, of course, their humor and repartee, which only commedia allows with such freedom!

Tackling themes of love, friendship, courage and honesty, La Grande Demande entertains as much as it instructs, presenting an age-old theatrical form through a story and delicious dialogue, sprinkled with contemporary references and winks that will delight young and old alike.

Les Productions Drôle de Monde is a theater company that showcases the talents of emerging and established female artists through the creation of physical, rhythmic and resolutely organic shows, exploring different styles, particularly masked and clownish play, where comedy and derision manage to bring out on stage the worst dramas of the funny world we live in. Founded in 2000, the company builds bridges between past and present, between ancestral forms and contemporary issues.
