Safia Nolin, a singular figure on the contemporary art scene, embodies a powerful political voice. Her career is a quest for identity, an exploration of difference and marginality. As a racialized, lesbian and artistically non-conforming woman, she defies societal norms and expectations. Her aesthetic, both raw and poetic, is a celebration of imperfection and authenticity.

In her new album, UFO RELIGION, Nolin expresses a deep sense of alienation, a desire to escape from a world that doesn't recognize her. Through minimalist melodies and raw instrumentation, she delivers an introspective work, where melancholy and hope mingle. Nature, a refuge and source of inspiration, becomes a character in its own right on this album, offering a counterpoint to human alienation.

Recorded in nature, this opus is imbued with a visceral urgency. It bears witness to a process of transformation, an artistic rebirth. Nolin, like a chrysalis ready to hatch, breaks free from her chains to assert herself fully.
