Théâtre déambulatoire: Portage dans le temps des allumetières
Departure: 1, rue Wellington (Théâtre de l'Île)
Duration: Approx. 75 minutes

Théâtre Dérives Urbaines invites you on a theatrical and temporal journey through a period in Gatineau's history marked by industrialization, workers' unionization and the courage of girls and women determined to assert their rights. Accompanied by Michel Prévost, President of the Société d'histoire de l'Outaouais, you'll encounter the fascinating history of the matchmakers.
This guided tour will take you, on foot, all the way back to the 1924 counter-strike between the E.B. Eddy bosses and the match factory workers. Along the way, you'll meet an American entrepreneur, a young female worker, a clergyman and a pioneer of the labour movement.
