Galerie Old Chelsea is pleased to host an exhibition by Michael Minor, a classically trained Ottawa native who studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, England and the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. Minor is inspired by the traditional technical skills and compositions of past masters and the great representational painters working today. He speaks of his paintings being built humbly on works of traditional painters as laid down through millennium. Minor wants to tell timeless stories with his paintings and contribute them to the collective whole of works.

“Realism is misunderstood and has continued to be through most of the twentieth century, as an art of imitation,” but as says Minor, in the right hands, it can be a “powerful creative force.”  When people look at his paintings, Michael Minor wants them to feel things that cannot be expressed in words.

“As a former soldier, Michael tells us, “I have witnessed the majesty and wickedness of humanity. But still, I am enthralled by the human animal and its stubbornly consistent spirit, timelessly emotional conditions, and varied environments.”

Michael can speak of the best and the worst in human nature but his art is all about beauty. One must see these beautiful paintings.
