Lightning-fast, they're all about rigor, precision and enthusiasm. The rare iconoclasts of Patin Libre not only surprised, but revolutionized the dance world with their first two choreographies on ice. Their innovative vision of the art of skating has taken them to rinks around the world.

Their new work explores the mechanisms that govern the collective movements of birds, those hallucinatory aerial ballets known as “clouds” - or “murmuration” in English. Almost imperceptible micro-movements and instinctive changes of direction create a chain reaction, dictating the trajectory of the group, where everyone, antennae erect, is constantly on the lookout. In so doing, they explore the dynamic interactions of a harmonious and exhilarating living-together. High-flying, adrenalin-pumping skating for the whole family!

About Patin Libre

Patin Libre was founded in Montreal in 2005 by a group of high-level figure skaters who, with a sense of rebellion, wanted to move away from glitter and stereotypes to create something legitimately artistic and truly “cool” with their athletic virtuosity. Since 2014, the company has been traveling the international contemporary performing arts network. Its pieces are described as contemporary skating, by dance critics. The company transforms ice rinks into ephemeral theaters, inviting diverse crowds into public infrastructures normally reserved for exclusive sports clubs.

Le Patin Libre is constantly striving to make skating and the performing arts accessible to as many people as possible. Its ice dance evenings, free shows, workshops and winter carnivals organized by the company's artists play an essential role in keeping LPL rooted in something beyond art and skating.
