Michel Faubert and Bernard Falaise
La chapelle ardente
La Chapelle Ardente is an album and show by the duo of Michel Faubert (vocals and narration) and Bernard Falaise (guitars). Freely inspired by the Manuel de la petite littérature du Québec (Victor-Lévy Beaulieu / 1974), it takes us to the heart of an ancient and little-known Quebec: that of visionaries, mystics and the deranged of the soul. A gothic Quebec, thirsty for desire and obsessed with the Great Departure. Poetic tales rich in history, set against a backdrop of haunting, soaring, contemporary guitars. A dark, dreamlike journey into the heart of time, in the company of two artists who, in both folklore and contemporary music, need no introduction.
Born in Choisy (Montérégie / Québec) in 1959, Michel Faubert is an author, singer, storyteller and stage director dedicated to the artistic promotion of little-known Quebec and Acadian heritage. Known for his contemporary adaptations of legendary laments and marvelous tales, he travels as much in the world of folklore as in that of the Montreal underground, which he has frequented. Founder of Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer, he has also been involved in a number of adventures: Douze Hommes Rapaillés chantent Gaston Miron and Corps Amour et Anarchie (PPS Danse) around the repertoire of Léo Ferré. He has eight albums and three books to his credit, including an anthology entitled CONTES, published by Planète Rebelle.
