Mathieu Gratton

Comedian, host, author, designer, actor: Mathieu Gratton has been in the industry for over 15 years. Friendly and charismatic, Mathieu is best known for his boundless, unbridled imagination. His wacky, off-the-wall sense of humor delights his loyal audience and gives the projects he collaborates on a captivating freshness and singularity.
It was Guy A. Lepage who discovered Mathieu through the quality of his texts in 1996 and gave him his first showcase, Les Parlementeries 3. A few years later, he and Ghyslain Dufresne founded the now-famous group Crampe en masse, for which he wrote most of the lyrics. Their self-titled debut album sold over 25,000 copies. In 2000, the group received the “Discovery of the Year” award at the Les Oliviers gala. They give numerous performances and are invited to perform at various festivals, including the Just for Laughs galas. They even tread the boards in France. Six albums, four Oliviers, two radio shows and one TV show later, the group's success is unequivocal.
Mathieu was subsequently approached by several broadcasters and producers to collaborate on various television productions. His column on Ztélé's La revanche des Nerdz was such a hit with viewers that Ztélé put him at the helm of its own program: Le banc d'essai du peuple. Conceiving, writing and hosting all 150 episodes of this production, Mathieu shared an extraordinary bond with his audience for six seasons.
Mathieu is constantly writing new shows and developing innovative concepts for stage and television. He can be seen on stage in cabarets across Quebec, and at major events such as the Just for Laughs Festival and the Grand Rire de Québec.
