From the great ship HEMENETSET, Jorane's flagship creative project, emerges a small exploratory shuttle called: Hemenetset duo. Accompanied by Martin Lizotte on piano, Jorane sets out to meet the public with all her strength and fragility, in an invitation to awaken our inner freedom. Hemenetset: a call to ultimate self-expression.
Recipient of the prestigious André Gagnon award from SPACQ (2015) and an honorable mention from Elles de la musique de la SOCAN (2023), Jorane's musical career spans more than 20 years, punctuated by ambitious achievements that have garnered numerous industry awards. Her most recent album, Hemenetset, earned her Juno, Adisq and GAMIQ nominations.
With a dozen albums to her credit and tours that have taken her to the four corners of the globe, Jorane is a sound explorer and creator of rare freedom, sometimes at the helm of her own projects, sometimes at the service of art in its various forms.
She has created soundtracks for numerous theatrical, film, television and documentary works, including the plays Le Journal d'Anne Frank (winner of the Gascon-Roux award) and Albertine en cinq temps, as well as the film Un dimanche à Kigali, which won her a Jutra award in 2007.
His illustrious collaborations include work with the OSQ, Orchestre Métropolitain, I Musici, Margie Gillis, Michael Brook and Sara Maclachlan. Over the course of her career, Jorane has also shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin, Daniel Lanois and Anne Sylvestre, to name but a few. Spokesperson for Le Phare, Enfants et Familles and a committed citizen, Jorane is also involved with various organizations working with women in vulnerable situations.
