The Denuy Family hails from Old Brunswick, a floating island that drifts along the shores of Western and neo-Cajun music. Sometimes opposite Anticosti, sometimes opposite Laval, sometimes even opposite an empty room, Old Brunswick is more a state of mind than a state per se.

The Denuys started making music on Saturday evenings in the pantry of the family kitchen, first shaking the cereal box, then gradually playing the spoon, the Masson pot and the opener. One day, Gaugau Denuy arrived home with a “borrowed” acoustic guitar. The police turned up an hour later to seize both (Gaugau and the guitar).

Claude Meunier aka Noël “Doyen” Denuy, with his musicians Gaugau Denuy (Gautier Marinof), Jean-Juillet Denuy (Jean-Sébastien Chouinard), Croco Denuy (Pierre Fortin) and Doctor Denuy (Jocelyn Tellier)...all brothers, fathers or cousins, it's hard to say.
